About La Rasante

It’s all about Respect

La Rasante : a name which has both a rich history, dating back to 1901, and a bright future that’s about to start, right now, with you !

The best way to explain the ethos of La Rasante is through our battle cry, "Rrrr…, Rrrr…, Rrrr…, Rasante!" which you can hear at the beginning and end of every match.

It’s about the R of Respect:

The first Rrrr…

Is for you, your team and your club. It’s about respecting your body by taking care for it. It’s about respecting your trainer and your teammates by attending the training sessions and the matches; by being there on time and by letting them know in advance in case you can’t make it.

Maybe it's supporting a teammate who’s not as quick as you, or  maybe it's respecting different nationalities, colours or languages - we encourage bridging the linguistic gap (just a simple ‘thank you’ in another language can make the difference). Don’t hesitate to come and support our other teams, or become a referee or coach. Help us organize social events such as our annual supper. And last but not least: respect the rules and decisions made by the club.

The second Rrrr…

Is for our opponent. Fair Play is paramount in field hockey. Show some respect for your opponents by greeting them before match. Don’t shout at them - apologize for any kicks - help them up if they fall. Respect the referee’s decisions and the advice of your coach. If you’re supporting a team, do not use inappropriate language to the opposing players, their supporters or the referee. Respect the rules of the game; don’t break them and do not even think of cheating.

The third Rrrr…

Is about respecting the environment. Clean up the pitch and the dug outs after the match or training session. Select the correct container for your waste. Use reusable dishes, glasses and cups if possible during tournaments, stages and other activities. Promote carpooling – both for matches and training sessions. Respect the site and the equipment used during matches and training (pitches, goals, showers, club house…)

All these values are described in a charter that each and every Rasante-player and supporter should respect. If our values appeal to you and if you’d like to join us, please contact our secretary (sec@rasante.be). You can download a PDF-file, containing all the details about signing up at la Rasante.
